How to Stop Requests and Use Search Toggles
In AI Chat, you can stop ongoing requests and toggle external paper search and
library paper search on or off.
How do you stop a request?
Click the Stop button while AI is generating a response. The request stops immediately and any results already generated are preserved.
What is the external paper search toggle?
When the External Paper Search toggle is on, AI searches from the 280M+ academic paper database. When off, it only searches papers saved in your library.
What is the library paper search toggle?
When the Library Paper Search toggle is on, AI references papers saved in your library. When off, library papers are excluded from responses.
Can you use both toggles at the same time?
Yes. With both on, AI searches both your library and external papers together. We recommend turning on external search during early research for broad exploration, and switching to library-only during writing to focus on your collected papers.
