Professor Hana Lee's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying inflammation resolution, cancer cell selectivity, and microbial physiology, with a strong emphasis on identifying key regulatory pathways in disease and environmental adaptation. A strictly aerobic, non-motile, ovoid-shaped Alphaproteobacteria, designated strain JC2049T, was isolated from a tidal flat sediment sample. Using yeast two-hybrid assay, we investigated protein-protein interactions between all orthologous histidine kinase (HK)/response regulator (RR) pairs of M. tuberculosis H37Rv and identified potential protein-protein interactions between a noncognate HK/RR pair, DosT/NarL. An inflammatory reaction caused by the activation of microglia in the brain can lead to neurodegeneration and cause diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The regulation of inflammation can aid in preventing the development of neurodegenerative disease. Malonic acid has a variety of biological activity. The effects of malonic acid on microglia are not currently well known. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the effects of inflammation of malonic acid in BV2 microglia cells.
Objective: This study investigates the associations between positive childhood experiences and adult well-being, examining the moderating role of childhood social support in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and adult health outcomes. Method: Data were from the 2015 Wisconsin Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey. The sample included 4,849 individuals ages ≥18 years who were asked about their ACEs, childhood social support, and a range of health outcomes.
We propose a novel method for correcting the effect of nonuniform illumination on a bi-level image. The proposed method is based on a penalized nonlinear least squares objective function that measures the binariness of an image and the roughness of illumination.
