About the Lab
Professor Hee Kyung Yang's research lab specializes in ophthalmic imaging and neuro-ophthalmology, focusing on the development and validation of advanced imaging techniques for diagnosing and measuring ocular motility disorders. The lab investigates the use of infrared imaging and 3D photography to objectively assess ocular deviation in strabismus, with strong emphasis on improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing observer variability. 15Infrared images acquired with a selective wavelength filter can detect the latent components of strabismus, and automated image analysis showed excellent agreement with the standard PCT. This automated method is an accurate and reliable tool for measuring ocular deviation with minimal observer dependency.
The incidence of EMB-induced optic neuropathy among Koreans is estimated to be 0.7%, and can be reduced with lower doses of EMB.
Our results suggest that patients with newly diagnosed OSA have an increased risk of NAION, although the absolute risk of NAION is low.
The 3D Strabismus Photo Analyzer is a simple and reliable tool for measuring ocular deviation. It has excellent agreement with the Krimsky test and substantially improved reproducibility.
