Professor Inah Kim's research lab focuses on occupational health and epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on the impact of long working hours, occupational stress, and socioeconomic factors on mental and physical health outcomes. The lab investigates the biological mechanisms underlying overwork-related disorders, including the role of cellular signaling pathways such as Ras and Akt in stress resilience and disease progression. Using large-scale national data and population-based studies, the lab examines the epidemiological patterns of conditions like ALS and mental health disorders across different occupational groups in South Korea and Asia.

Ras activation promotes the survival of tumor cells after DNA damage. To reverse this survival advantage, Ras signaling has been targeted for inhibition. This study is the first nationwide survey for epidemiological characteristics of ALS in Korea using national data. The use of these data substantially advances the understanding of Korean and Asian ALS epidemiology and its relationship with socioeconomic status, age and sex.
Compared withNRGs, police officers had higher HRs for all measured diseases, except for traumatic stress disorders. While firefighters had higher HRs for almost all diseases examined, public education officers had a higher HR for traumatic stress disorders, when compared with NRGs.

Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance (IACI) has a history of about 50 yr, and is the oldest social insurance system in Korea. After more than 20 times of revision improvements in benefits, its contents and claim systems have been upgraded.
