이 교수의 연구실은 해양 환경 오염과 지속 가능한 해양 자원 관리를 핵심으로 삼는다. 주로 해양 퇴적물과 수질에서 발견되는 유기오염물질(알킬페놀, PPCPs, PCBs, PAHs 등)의 분포, 생물학적 영향 및 생태계 위험을 분석하며, 블루 이코노미와 지속가능발전목표(SDGs) 간의 연계성 연구도 수행한다. 특히, 원격감지와 현장 조사, 생물학적 생체반응 시험을 융합한 다학제적 접근을 통해 한국 연안의 블루카본 잠재력과 오염 문제를 종합적으로 평가한다.

Extracts of sediment collected from Masan Bay, Korea were fractionated using Florisil columns. Fractions were screened for their ability to induce estrogen- and dioxinlike gene expression in vitro using MVLN and H4IIE-luc cells, respectively, both before and after acid treatment.
