Professor Joon Seong Park's research lab specializes in clinical and translational oncology, with a primary focus on pancreatic cancer biology, metastasis, and postoperative management. The lab investigates molecular markers such as LOXL2 to understand their prognostic and functional roles in tumor progression and recurrence. It also explores surgical outcomes and nutritional support strategies, particularly early enteral feeding after pancreaticoduodenectomy, aiming to improve patient recovery and survival. The lab integrates clinical trials with molecular pathology to develop personalized follow-up and treatment strategies.

Current approaches to access control on the Web servers do not scale to enterprise-wide systems because they are mostly based on individual user identities. Hence we were motivated by the need to manage and enforce the strong and efficient RBAC access control technology in large-scale Web environments. To satisfy this requirement, we identify two different architectures for RBAC on the Web, called user-pull and server-pull . To demonstrate feasibility, we implement each architecture by integrati
We envisage increased benefit after adrenalectomy in terms of survival in patients with well controlled intrahepatic lesions at the time of adrenal metastasis and good general medical condition.
The benefits of early enteral feeding (EEN) have been demonstrated in gastrointestinal surgery. But, the impact of EEN has not been elucidated yet. We assessed the postoperative nutritional status of patients who had undergone pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) according to the postoperative nutritional method and compared the clinical outcomes of two methods. A prospective randomized trial was undertaken following PD. Patients were randomly divided into two groups; the EEN group received the postoper
This study showed that the TachoSil® patch did not reduce the incidence of POPF after distal pancreatectomy.
Lymph node metastasis is the most important risk factor for recurrence after a curative resection. Also, the fact that a higher probability of recurrence is anticipated in cases of ulcer formation and poorly differentiated tumors, there exists a need for a close-up follow-up program.
Lysyl oxidase-like 2 (LOXL2) is associated with invasiveness and metastasis in cancer. We analyzed the prognostic impact of LOXL2 in pancreatic cancer patients and investigated the role of LOXL2 in pancreatic cancer cell lines. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed in samples from 80 patients and showed LOXL2 expression in 81.2% of patients with pancreatic cancer. Regarding recurrence patterns, LOXL2-positive tumors showed a significantly higher rate of distant recurrence. The 1-year and 3-
Bi-directional buck-boost DC/DC converter is normally utilized for high speed operation of motors for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). In this work, a dual inverter strategy is proposed for HEV motor with the purpose of accommodating high speed operation without increasing battery voltage. By setting the secondary inverter to take care of only reactive voltage component, the secondary inverter do not carry voltage source other than capacitor bank. DC link voltage regulation is achieved through th
Since laparoscopic liver resection was first introduced in 2001, Korean surgeons have chosen a laparoscopic procedure as one of the treatment options for benign or malignant liver disease. We distributed and analyzed a nationwide questionnaire to members of the Korean Laparoscopic Liver Surgery Study Group (KLLSG) in order to evaluate the current status of laparoscopic liver resection in Korea. Questionnaires were sent to 24 centers of KLLSG. The questionnaire consisted of operative procedure, h
Fatigue is a well recognized safety concern for drivers and other industrial workers who must stay alert and attentive for long periods of time. Currently, drowsiness detectors using EEG technology exist but are cumbersome and unreliable. The large number of standard EEG channels requires extensive wiring, while the conventional wet electrodes cause discomfort in long-term monitoring. We propose a simple and cheap one-channel drowsiness detection technology suitable for detecting drowsiness in a
