About the Lab
Professor Kim, Young-Soo's research lab focuses on molecular oncology and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, with a strong emphasis on identifying therapeutic targets and pathways involved in cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. The lab investigates apoptosis regulation in tumor cells, particularly through PPAR-gamma ligands and TRAIL signaling, while also exploring COX-2 expression in carcinogenesis and the development of targeted peptide delivery systems for cancer therapy. In neurodegeneration, the lab examines the neuroprotective potential of natural antioxidants like sulforaphane (SFN) in Alzheimer’s disease models, highlighting the Nrf2-ARE pathway as a key therapeutic target.
