Professor Mamoru Morikawa's research lab specializes in maternal-fetal medicine, focusing on the complex interplay between metabolic disorders—such as diabetes and glucose intolerance—and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. An educational seat belt leaflet was effective in raising the rate of consistent seat belt use during pregnancy, but it did not decrease the rate of motor vehicle accidents.
