Using OCTA, choriocapillaris blood flow deficit could be observed in most patients with BCD with <i>CYP4V2</i> mutations. The presence of the choriocapillaris at the subfovea was significantly correlated with visual function in these patients. Analysis of choriocapillaris blood flow using OCTA allows non-invasive assessment of the patient's state.
Abstract We proposed a new concept of TOF-PET (Time-of-Flight Positron Emission Tomography) using Cherenkov radiation. Basic experiments revealed a timing resolution of 170ps, but the detection efficiency was less than those of the conventional BaF2 scintillators. Using wide-angle swept-source OCTA, concentric and vermicular choriocapillaris flow deficits were observed in the eyes of RP patients. A comparison of angiography and structure en face images of the choriocapillaris in RP cases suggests that angiography images can evaluate a wider area of the choriocapillaris than structure images.
A PRN regimen for PCV may have a limited effect for the long-term maintenance of improved VA. Macular atrophy may occur more frequently with combination therapy and is possibly associated with the 5-year VA. Thus, combination therapy should be carefully selected for patients susceptible to macular atrophy.
The outer choroidal vascular narrowing might progress with the inner choroidal thinning in BCD, and the inner choroidal vasculature might be extinguished in advanced-stage BCD. Our findings may help to clarify the etiology of BCD.
No negative effects related to the progression of visual field loss were observed during continuous treatment with anti-VEGF agents for 8 years in our patient.
Bietti crystalline dystrophy patients with CYP4V2 mutations showed more severe macular choroid atrophy as compared to EYS-related RP patients. These different damage patterns suggest differences in choroidal expression between CYP4V2 and EYS.
