Professor Nao Fujimori's research lab specializes in pancreatic diseases, with a focus on the diagnosis, management, and clinical outcomes of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs), autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP), and advanced pancreatic cancer. The lab investigates endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and minimally invasive endoscopic techniques for accurate diagnosis and treatment, particularly in complex cases such as pNET grading and minor papilla interventions. They also explore the role of IgG4-related disease in retroperitoneal fibrosis and the real-world efficacy of novel therapies like nanoliposomal irinotecan in gemcitabine-refractory pancreatic cancer. EUS and EUS-FNA are highly sensitive and accurate diagnostic methods for pNET. Characteristic EUS findings such as large tumor size and MPD obstruction are suggestive of G2/G3 tumors and would be helpful for grading pNETs.
