Professor Sangheon Kim's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research, focusing on pharmacogenomics, drug-induced adverse reactions, and the development of advanced in vitro disease models. The lab investigates genetic susceptibility to severe drug reactions—particularly allopurinol- and anti-TB drug-induced toxicity—using HLA and metabolic enzyme genotyping. It also pioneers innovative 3D bioprinting technologies to engineer patient-relevant cardiac microtissues for modeling fibrosis and predicting drug-induced toxicity. These efforts integrate machine learning, biomaterial science, and systems biology to advance precision medicine and in vitro drug safety testing.
