About the Lab
Professor Seung Hwan Lee's research lab specializes in advanced materials and biomedical technologies, with a focus on developing functional nanomaterials for energy and health applications. Key research directions include the design of high-performance organic thermoelectrics through precise doping strategies, the application of CRISPR-Cas systems for genome editing with reduced off-target effects, and the engineering of biopolymers such as P(3HB-co-3HHx) for sustainable materials. The lab also investigates neuroimmune mechanisms in neuropathic pain, aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets through signaling pathway modulation.

15Introduction Neuropathic pain is a debilitating condition. The importance of neuroimmune interactions in neuropathic pain has been evidenced by the involvement of different immune cells in peripheral and central sensitization of pathological pain. Macrophages and microglia are the most abundant immune cells activated in injured nerves and spinal cord, respectively. Several lines of evidence showed that macrophage/microglia survival, activation, proliferation, and differentiation require the invo
The current study assessed the influence of the CYP2C19 genotype on the pharmacokinetics and tolerability of voriconazole after single and multiple oral doses in healthy volunteers. Six subjects for the CYP2C19 homozygous extensive metabolizer (EMs), 6 for heterozygous extensive metabolizer (HEMs), and 6 for poor metabolizer (PMs) were enrolled, and their CYP2C9, CYP3A5, and MDR1 genotypes were analyzed. After a single intravenous infusion or single and multiple oral doses of 200 mg of voriconaz
Tegoprazan produced more rapid, potent and well sustained night-time acid suppression vs. vonoprazan or esomeprazole when administered at night. Furthermore, tegoprazan showed no CYP2C19 phenotype dependency in acid suppression. It suggests the potential of tegoprazan, especially in preventing nocturnal acid breakthrough.
Oro-facial pain following injury and infection is frequently observed in dental clinics. While neuropathic pain evoked by injury associated with nerve lesion has an involvement of glia/immune cells, inflammatory hyperalgesia has an exaggerated sensitization mediated by local and circulating immune mediators. To better understand the contribution of central nervous system (CNS) glial cells in these different pathological conditions, in this study we sought to characterize functional phenotypes of
Tegoprazan 50 mg showed stronger gastric acid suppression than revaorazan 200 mg. Both drugs were well tolerated.
Gastric acid suppression by DWP14012 was similar among the Korean, Caucasian and Japanese subjects in this study, and the PK, PK-PD relationships and safety were also similar among the three ethnicities. DWP14012 could be used without consideration of ethnicity.
Tegoprazan, a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker, is used to treat acid-related diseases. However, there is no information on the pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) profiles of the marketed dosage of tegoprazan under various meal timings in a fed and fasted state. The study aimed to assess the effect of meal timing on PKs and PDs of tegoprazan 50 mg after a single administration in healthy male subjects. An open-label, single-dose, three-treatment, three-period crossover study w
A novel and an efficient rescue system with a multi-agent simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) framework is proposed to reduce the rescue time while rescuing the people trapped inside a burning building. In this study, the truncated signed distance (TSD) based SLAM algorithm is employed to accurately construct a two-dimensional map of the surroundings. For a new and significantly different scenario, information is gathered and the general iterative closest point method (GICP) is directly
The PER concentration in saliva was correlated with that in plasma. This correlation was not affected by CYP3A4 inducers. Our results demonstrate for the first time that PER is measurable in saliva and suggest the potential for the clinical application of the saliva PER TDM matrix.
Aging/obesity altered microglia properties in the spinal cords, which can dysregulate neuron-microglia crosstalk and impair physiological pain signal transmission. The inflammatory functions of microglia have special relevance for understanding of abnormal pain behavior in aged/obese populations.
Zastaprazan was safe and well tolerated after a single oral dose up to 60 mg and multiple oral doses up to 40 mg. It also showed rapid, potent suppression of gastric acid secretion. Pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile of zastaprazan was suitable for treatment of patients with acid-related diseases.
