Professor Sung Eun Kim's research lab focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular physiology and disease, with a strong emphasis on stem cell biology, cancer metabolism, and cell death pathways such as ferroptosis and apoptosis. The lab investigates how key signaling pathways—particularly YAP-TEAD—regulate metabolic enzymes like UGP2 in cancer progression, and explores the potential of stem cell-derived hepatocytes for regenerative medicine. Additionally, the lab examines neuroprotective strategies, including the use of bioactive molecules like bovine colostrum, to mitigate brain cell death in neurological disorders.
