Professor Sungsoo Lee's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying cellular signaling, particularly the substrate specificity of protein tyrosine kinases such as C-terminal Src kinase (Csk). The lab investigates how kinases recognize and phosphorylate specific substrates through distinct docking interactions, combining structural biology and mutagenesis to map functional domains. In parallel, the lab explores the impact of lifestyle interventions—especially exercise—on metabolic and neurotrophic factors in pediatric metabolic disorders, including obesity and type 2 diabetes. The research bridges molecular enzymology with translational physiology, aiming to uncover therapeutic targets for metabolic and neurological diseases in youth.
