Professor Teiji Sota's research lab specializes in evolutionary biology and ecological genetics, with a focus on speciation, phylogeography, and coevolutionary dynamics in insects and other arthropods. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying reproductive isolation, such as genital morphology and mating incompatibility, using carabid beetles as model systems. It also explores adaptation to environmental stress, including desiccation resistance in mosquito eggs and host-specific interactions in pollination mutualisms.
