Professor Wonseok Kang's research lab specializes in non-invasive diagnostic methods for chronic liver diseases, with a focus on improving the accuracy and clinical utility of elastography and biomarker-based approaches. The lab investigates the integration of imaging techniques like transient elastography (FibroScan) with clinical and laboratory parameters to enhance the detection of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, reducing reliance on invasive procedures. A key research direction involves understanding the immunological and inflammatory mechanisms in chronic hepatitis C, particularly the role of chemokines in viral persistence and immune response modulation.
