About the Lab

Professor Ae-Ri Kim's research lab focuses on understanding the molecular and immunological mechanisms underlying breast and gastric cancers, with a particular emphasis on tumor microenvironment, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and cancer stem cells. The lab investigates how molecular subtypes, such as mesenchymal and epithelial phenotypes in gastric cancer, influence treatment response and patient survival, while also exploring the therapeutic potential of amniotic fluid-derived mesenchymal stem cells in tissue repair and regeneration. Their work integrates genomics, proteomics, and immunohistochemistry to identify predictive biomarkers and improve clinical outcomes in HER2-negative and triple-negative breast cancers.
