About the Lab

Professor An-Hee Yoo's research lab focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying stress-related disorders, with a particular emphasis on the long-term impact of prenatal stress on offspring brain development and behavior. The lab investigates how environmental stressors during pregnancy affect hippocampal neurogenesis, serotonin system regulation, and anxiety-like behaviors in rodent models. Current research also explores the neuroprotective and behavioral benefits of interventions such as treadmill exercise in mitigating these adverse outcomes. The lab integrates behavioral neuroscience with molecular and histological techniques to understand the neural basis of anxiety and resilience.
