About the Lab
Professor Byung-Soo Kwon's research lab focuses on epidemiological and clinical investigations into metabolic and infectious diseases, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between viral hepatitis, metabolic syndrome, and chronic liver diseases such as intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The lab explores modifiable lifestyle and reproductive factors—such as age at menarche, breastfeeding, and menstrual irregularities—on the development of diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular risk in women. Using large-scale national health surveys and longitudinal cohort data, the lab investigates the prognostic and pathogenic roles of infections like *Helicobacter pylori* and *Clostridioides difficile* in metabolic and gastrointestinal disorders. Their work bridges clinical hepatology, metabolic epidemiology, and preventive medicine to identify early risk markers and inform public health strategies.

본 연구는 맞춤형 고순도 공업용수 생산을 위한 전산모사를 통해 목적하는 수질을 예측하여 목표수질의 달성여부를검증하고자 한다. 최종수질의 예측을 위해서는 공정에 따른 수질예측이 가능한 전산모사 프로그램의 구축이 필요하다. 전산모사 구축 시 우선적으로 수질 및 수량에 대한 부분이 고려되어야 한다. 원수 및 목표수질이 선정되면 이에 따른 공정선정이필요하며, 개별공정에 대한 전산모사에 대한 로직이 구성되어야 한다. 전산모사를 통해 반도체급 초순수 공정을 구성하여 수질에 대한 예측을 하였다. 전산모사의 수질예측과 초순수 실증프랜트(25 m3/일)의 수질 예측을 비교한 결과 비저항, TOC 등일부 항목은 유사한 결과가 도출되었으나, DO, 실리카, 입자, 보론 등은 다소 차이가 발생하였다. DO는 0.5 ppb(전산모사) / 0 ppb(실증플랜트) 차이가 있었으며, 실리카는 0.5 ppb(전산모사) / 0.25 ppb(실증플랜트) 차이가 있었다. 보론은 0.05 ppb(전산모사) / 0.024
