About the Lab

Professor Chan-Geum Park's research lab focuses on improving patient outcomes through interdisciplinary health interventions, particularly in oncology and dermatology. The lab investigates the role of lifestyle factors such as exercise in cancer survivorship, emphasizing patient adherence and quality of life. It also explores the biological mechanisms of skin immunity, including antimicrobial peptides in eccrine glands, and contributes to clinical decision-making in pediatric anesthesia using physiological monitoring. The lab integrates clinical research with translational science to bridge patient care and biological discovery.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the current study was to examine the effect of an oncologist's exercise recommendation with and without an exercise motivation package on the amount of exercise participation and quality of life (QOL) in survivors of breast and colorectal cancer. METHODS: A total of 162 survivors of early-stage breast and colorectal cancer who completed primary and adjuvant treatments were recruited for the current study. Participants were randomly assigned into 1 of 3 groups: 1) contr

Factors associated with transfer of training in workplace e‐learning
Ji‐Hye Park, Tim L. Wentling
SJR Q2Journal of Workplace Learning

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of factors associated with e‐learning, particularly computer attitudes and usability, on transfer of training in workplace e‐learning courses. Design/methodology/approach This study relied on quantitative data obtained from four online survey questionnaires. The sample of this study was 47 learners who took either one soft‐skill e‐learning course or one hard‐skill e‐learning course in a selected company and their supervisors. Finding

An antimicrobial protein, lactoferrin exists in the sweat: proteomic analysis of sweat

SJR Q1Experimental Dermatology

The main function of the eccrine gland has been considered to be thermoregulation. Recently, it has been reported that antimicrobial peptides including cathelicidin and dermcidin exist in the sweat. Lactoferrin is found in body fluids such as milk tears and saliva. It is known as a component of host defense against infection and inflammation. In this study, we explored whether lactoferrin is produced by eccrine glands, thereby establishing its potential role in the skin defense. By immunohistoch

SJR Q3Annals of DermatologyOA

Histopathological features favoring psoriasis include mounds of parakeratosis with neutrophils, spongiform micropustules of Kogoj, clubbed and evenly elongated rete ridges, and increased mitotic figures (≥6/high-powered field). Features indicating seborrheic dermatitis are follicular plugging, shoulder parakeratosis and prominent lymphocytic exocytosis. Immunohistochemistry was not helpful in differentiating psoriasis from seborrheic dermatitis.

SJR Q1Anesthesiology

BACKGROUND: To compare surgical pleth index (SPI)-guided analgesia with conventional analgesia by evaluating intraoperative analgesic requirements, postoperative pain, and emergence agitation in children. METHODS: This study was designed as a parallel, two-arm, double-blind, randomized controlled trial. Forty-five children undergoing elective adenotonsillectomy were randomly allocated to SPI-guided group (SPI-guided analgesia group, n = 21) or control group (conventional analgesia group, n = 24)

SJR Q2BMC CancerOA

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the present study was to examine 1) characteristics and attitudes of oncologists toward exercise and toward recommending exercise to their patients, 2) association among oncologists' own physical activity levels, exercise recommendations, and their attitudes toward recommending exercise. METHODS: A total of 167 oncologists participated in this survey study (41 surgeons, 78 medical oncologists, 25 radiation oncologists, and 21 others). Most oncologists included in the s

SJR Q1Journal of Glaucoma

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare the peripapillary vessel density between eyes with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PXG) and eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). METHODS: Peripapillary vessel density in the radial peripapillary capillaries was assessed using optical coherence tomography angiography, and compared between patients with PXG and those with POAG, matched for age and mean deviation (MD) of standard automated perimetry. The vessel density was measured between the opti

A Novel Array-Type Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) System for Accurate Focusing on Targeted Brain Areas

SJR Q2IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

In this paper, we propose a new array-type transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) system, which can modulate cortical excitability of human brain in a more effective manner. Once a target location inside a brain is determined, optimal injection current/potential at each electrode is calculated automatically by solving a constrained optimization problem. Current density distribution in a realistic head model was evaluated using the 3-D finite element method (FEM) adopting the superpositio

Expression of Follicular Helper T-cell Markers in Primary Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma
Ji‐Hye Park, Jae Ho Han, Hee Young Kang, Eun‐So Lee, You Chan Kim
SJR Q3American Journal of Dermatopathology

The follicular helper T cells (TFH) seemed to be expressed in several subsets of T-cell lymphomas. However, their expression in cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCLs) has been rarely described. We investigated the clinical features, histopathological morphology, and expression of TFH markers in CTCLs. Forty-nine patients (24 men and 25 women) diagnosed with CTCL were examined, 25 patients with mycosis fungoides (MF) and 24 with other CTCLs. Immunohistochemical staining for CD10, Bcl-6, inducible cos
