About the Lab

Professor Cheon-Pyo Hong's research lab focuses on immunology and infectious diseases, with a strong emphasis on mucosal immunity, allergic disorders, and viral pathogenesis. The lab investigates the regulatory roles of immune cells such as eosinophils and dendritic cells in inflammatory and allergic conditions, as well as the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting immune checkpoints like PD-L1 and IgE. Additionally, the lab is actively engaged in vaccine development, particularly edible and plant-based vaccines against infectious agents such as avian influenza and enteroviruses. Their work bridges basic immunology with translational applications in allergy, autoimmunity, and infectious disease control.
