About the Lab
Professor Chung-ki Park's research lab specializes in diagnostic radiology and medical imaging, with a strong focus on thoracic and neuroradiological conditions. The lab investigates radiological manifestations of radiation-induced lung disease, pulmonary vascular anomalies such as telangiectatic arteriovenous malformations, and intracranial air embolism associated with both interventional procedures and rare non-interventional causes. The lab also contributes significantly to the standardization of imaging classification, particularly in pneumoconiosis, through the development of digital reference images aligned with international guidelines.

15Radiation-induced lung disease (RILD) due to radiation therapy is common. Radiologic manifestations are usually confined to the lung tissue within the radiation port and are dependent on the interval after completion of treatment. In the acute phase, RILD typically manifests as ground-glass opacity or attenuation or as consolidation; in the late phase, it typically manifests as traction bronchiectasis, volume loss, and scarring. However, the use of oblique beam angles and the development of newe
In small cell carcinoma of the lung, it is statistically proven that the more enhanced tumor on CT, the better response to chemotherapy. Tumor enhancement of 30 HU is a suggestive guide for chemotherapy response in patients with small cell carcinoma.
Most intrasellar meningiomas are located in the subdiaphragmatic and supraglandular region because they originate from the diaphragma sellae. Subglandular meningiomas located under the pituitary gland are extremely rare. Intrasellar meningiomas in the subdiaphragmatic and subglandular region probably originate from the dura in the sellar floor. We report a case of a subglandular meningioma along with a review of the literature.
We developed the standard digital images (SDIs) to be used in the classification and recognition of pneumoconiosis. From July 3, 2006 through August 31, 2007, 531 retired male workers exposed to inorganic dust were examined by digital (DR) and analog radiography (AR) on the same day, after being approved by our institutional review board and obtaining informed consent from all participants. All images were twice classified according to the International Labour Office (ILO) 2000 guidelines with r
Telangiectatic pulmonary arteriovenous malformation is defined as a pulmonary arteriovenous malformation involving every segmental artery of at least one lobe of the lung. The authors report a case of telangiectatic pulmonary arteriovenous malformation in the left lower lobe of the lung.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the diagnostic accuracy of fine needle aspiration (FNA) and core needle biopsy (CNB) of intrathoracic lesions using the same coaxial guide-needle under a C-arm Cone-Beam computed tomography system.
Materials and Methods: Two hundred and eighty-eight patients (181 male, 107 female; 65.8 ± 13.3 years) with 293 lesions underwent 300 procedures, in which both FNA and CNB were performed. After inserting the
Glufosinate ammonium (GLA) is a broad-spectrum herbicide used worldwide. Transient lesions involving the splenium of the corpus callosum have been described in patients with encephalitis or encephalopathy of varied etiology, but have not been reported in association with GLA poisoning. We describe a patient who had attempted suicide by ingesting GLA-containing herbicide, with a focal diffusion-restrictive lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum on MRI, which had disappeared four weeks late
High flow priapism is a prolonged, non-painful penile erection unrelated to sexual stimulation after penile or perineal trauma. We report a case of high-flow priapism treated successfully with superselective embolization. An 8-year-old boy presented to our hospital 9 days after having been struck in the perineum during a bicycle accident. After the injury, the patient suffered a painless prolonged erection. High flow priapism was diagnosed by cavernosal blood gas analysis and penile duplex doppl
Carcinoid tumors of the thymus are vanishingly rare, and the characteristic cytologic findings of this condition have never before been reported in Korea. Recently, we encountered a 58-year-old woman who had been suffering from general weakness and weight loss for several months. Radiological imaging revealed a large anterior mediastinal mass. A fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) of the mass showed predominantly scattered single cells, as well as some loose clusters of small cells with scanty
