Professor Dae Won Seo's research lab specializes in epilepsy-related neuroscience, focusing on the neural mechanisms underlying seizure-related brain injury, autonomic dysfunction, and post-surgical outcomes. The lab investigates the role of programmed cell death pathways in excitotoxic neuronal damage, explores functional neuroimaging and biomarkers for seizure prognosis, and examines cardiac autonomic regulation in epilepsy patients using advanced electrophysiological and imaging techniques. A key focus is on understanding the pathophysiology of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) through ultra-short-term heart rate variability analysis and SPECT-MRI coregistration.
