About the Lab

Professor Dae-Hyun Yoo's research lab focuses on regenerative medicine and biomedical engineering, with a strong emphasis on mesenchymal stem cells—particularly dental pulp-derived MSCs—and their immunomodulatory mechanisms. The lab also investigates wound healing and scar formation, exploring the role of growth factors like EGF in cutaneous repair. Additionally, the lab contributes to surgical innovation, including robotic-assisted breast surgery, and engages in materials science, particularly in the development of high-efficiency white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs).

Purpose: Most studies on immune tolerance of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been performed using MSCs derived from bone marrow, cord blood, or adipose tissue. MSCs also exist in the craniofacial area, specifically in teeth. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanisms of immune tolerance of dental pulp-derived MSC (DP-MSC) in vitro and in vivo. Materials and Methods: We isolated DP-MSCs from human dental pulp and co-cultured them with CD4+ T-cells. To evaluate the role of cytokin

Journal of Korean Medical Science

A visible cutaneous scar develops from the excess formation of immature collagen in response to an inflammatory reaction. This study examined the role of epidermal growth factor (EGF) in the formation of cutaneous scars. Twenty Crl:CD-1 (ICR)mice were used and 2 full-thickness skin wounds were made on the dorsum of each mouse. One of the wounds was treated with recombinant human EGF by local application and the other was treated with saline for control until complete healing was achieved. The EG

Robotic surgical systems enhance surgical accuracy and efficiency by applying advanced technologies such as artificial arm joints to provide higher degrees of freedom of movement and high-quality three-dimensional images. However, the application of robotic surgical systems to breast surgery has not been widely attempted. The robotic system would improve cosmesis by enabling surgery using a single small incision. We report the first case of a gasless robot-assisted nipple-sparing mastectomy and

SJR Q2Journal of LuminescenceOA

The electroluminescent characteristics of white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) were investigated including single emitting layer (SEL) with an ADN host and dopants; BCzVBi, C545T, and DCJTB for blue, green and red emission, respectively. The structure of the high efficiency WOLED device was; ITO/NPB(700 Å)/ADN: BCzVBi-7%:C545T-0.05%:DCJTB-0.1%(300 Å)/Bphen(300 Å)/Liq(20 Å)/Al(1200 Å) for mixing three primary colors. Luminous efficiency was 9.08 cd/A at 3.5 V and Commission Intenationale

Journal of Breast Cancer

Purpose: Breast volume assessment is one of the most important steps during implant-based breast reconstruction because it is critical in selecting implant size. According to previous studies, there is a close relationship between the mastectomy specimen weight and resected breast volume. The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term patient satisfaction with implantbased breast reconstruction guided by the ratio of implant volume to mastectomy specimen weight. In doing so, we describe the ide

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of color commentary on satisfaction in commentator, viewing flow and re-viewing intention, based on disposition theory. This study assumed that color commentary(biased toward home team) have a more positive impact on audiences satisfaction in commentator, viewing flow and re-viewing intention significantly, compared to objective commentary and color commentary(biased toward away team). For the current study, a 3(manipulated video: neutral,

SJR Q1Optics Letters

High contrast blue organic light-emitting diodes were fabricated using an inorganic multilayer of NPB (700 Å)/MADN (200 Å)/Alq3 (300 Å)/LiF (10 Å)/Al (70 Å)/ZnSe (300 Å)/Al (1000 Å). The optical and electrical characteristics were measured and compared to conventional organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) and OLEDs with polarizers. OLEDs with the metal multilayer cathodes had an improved contrast ratio of 135∶1 compared to 104∶1 for OLEDs with polarizers. In addition, the multilayer OLEDs had a

A Security Weakness of the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) Cellular Service
Dae Hyun Ryu, Seung Ju Jang

Summary We consider the problem of security in the CDMA. CDMA system has wireless channels to transmit voice or data. By this reason, CDMA communication has a possibility of being eavesdropped by someone. It is known that eavesdropping in CDMA system is impossible because the voice data spreads with the PN. However, we can eavesdrop the CDMA data using FCM protocol in case that we know the ESN and the MIN. In CDMA system, ESN and MIN are exposed to the wireless channel. In this paper, we analyze

Patients who have a lower facial asymmetry with compensatory head posture (developmental facial asymmetry) may have minortemporomandibular (T-M) joint problems and tend to mask their asymmetry by tilting the head for camouflage of their chin deviation. However, this compensatory head posture can give the impression of orbital dystopia and c spine deviation. When thesepatients undergo bimaxillary orthognathic surgery, orbital canting and head tilting improves gradually without the need for camouf

Background Robots have allowed head and neck surgeons to extirpate oropharyngeal tumors safely without the need for lip-split incision or mandibulotomy. Using robots in oropharyngeal reconstruction is new but essential for oropharyngeal defects that result from robotic tumor excision. We report our experience with robotic free-flap reconstruction of head and neck defects to exemplify the necessity for robotic reconstruction. Methods We investigated head and neck cancer patients who underwent abl

This paper discusses the implementation of a rehabilitation center based on a ubiquitous sensor network. This paper discusses the implementation of a rehabilitation center based on a ubiquitous sensor network. We recognize that certain mild conditions requiring rehabilitation may be treated with minimal human supervision. In place of this constant human supervision, a variety of sensors are used to monitor the patient and rehabilitation progress. These sensors send data through a wireless Zigbee
