About the Lab
Professor Dong Hyun Yoo's research lab specializes in intelligent control systems and human-machine interaction, with a focus on advanced control methodologies such as Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control (LADRC) for industrial applications. The lab also develops real-time, robust eye gaze estimation systems using infrared LEDs and CCD cameras, enabling intuitive human-robot interfaces for assistive technologies. Their work bridges control theory with practical applications in healthcare and robotics, particularly for elderly and disabled users.

15In current industrial control applications, the proportional + integral + derivative (PID) control is still used as the leading tool, but constructing controller requires precise mathematical model of plant, and tuning the parameters of controllers is not simple to implement. Motivated by the gap between theory and practice in control problems, linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) addresses a set of control problems in the absence of precise mathematical models. LADRC has two para
In this paper, we suggest a new system to estimate the direction of a user's eye gaze. Our system consisted of five IR LEDs and a CCD camera. The IR LEDs, which are attached to the corners of a computer monitor, make glints on the surface of the cornea of the eye. If the user sees the monitor, the center of a pupil is always in a polygon that is made by the glints. Consequently, the direction of the user's eye gaze can be computed without computing the geometrical relation between the eye, the c

OBJECTIVES: Many studies have reported an association between overwork and hypertension. However, research on the health effects of long working hours has yielded inconclusive results. The objective of this study was to identify an association between overtime work and hypertension in wage workers 45 years and over of age using prospective data. METHODS: Wage workers in Korea aged 45 years and over were selected for inclusion in this study from among 10,254 subjects from the Korean Longitudinal
Eye gaze estimation is to detect the eye gaze of human. By detection of the eye gaze, a machine can read the intention. Eye gaze is very useful to read human intention. In this paper, a new eye gaze estimation method is suggested. The method allows large head movement without knowledge of eye pose. Also, feature detection is very important to achieve good performance. However, pupil detection is difficult because pupil color is similar to iris color. This paper proposes a robust feature detectio
Recently, service area has been emerging field of robotic applications. Even though assistant robots play an important role for the disabled and the elderly, they still &er from operating the robots using conventional interface devices such as joysticks or keyboards. In this paper, we suggest a humanrobot interface using a new eye gaze estimation system. The eye gaze estimation system can estimate the direction of a user’s eye gaze. The proposed system consisted of five IR LEDs and a CCD camera.
An eye gaze estimation system is proposed. The eye gaze estimation system estimates the eye-gaze direction of a user. The proposed system consisted of five IR LEDs and a CCD camera. The direction of the user's eye gaze can be computed without computing the geometrical relation among the eye, the camera, and the monitor in 3D space. Our method is comparatively simple and fast. The disabled can manipulate a computer using this system. We would introduce our method and show experimental results. Th
In this paper, a non-intrusive eye gaze estimation system is proposed. The proposed system consists of five light sources and two cameras, and the direction of the user's eye gaze can be computed by using a projective property without computing the geometrical relation among the eye, the cameras, and the monitor in 3D space. Our method is accurate under head movement, and is comparatively simple and fast. We introduce our method and show experimental results. The experimental results would verif
The purpose of our study was to determine the frequency and severity of intracerebral hemorrhages and T2 hyperintense white matter lesions (WMLs) following radiation therapy for brain tumors in adult patients. Of 648 adult brain tumor patients who received radiation therapy at our institute, magnetic resonance (MR) image data consisting of a gradient echo (GRE) and FLAIR T2-weighted image were available three and five years after radiation therapy in 81 patients. Intracerebral hemorrhage was def
OBJECTIVE: Superselective pseudocontinuous arterial spin labeling (ss-pCASL) is an MRI technique in which individual vessels are labeled to trace their perfusion territories. In this study, the authors assessed its merit in defining feeding vessels and gauging preoperative embolization feasibility for patients with meningioma, using digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as the reference method. METHODS: Thirty-one consecutive patients with meningiomas were prospectively recruited, each undergoin
