About the Lab
Professor Dong-young Cho's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and minimally invasive neurosurgical interventions, with a focus on improving outcomes in cerebrovascular and spinal disorders. The lab investigates combination therapies using mesenchymal stem cells and pharmacological agents like minocycline for ischemic stroke, while also advancing image-guided spinal surgery techniques such as VATS with O-arm navigation. A key area of interest is understanding sacropelvic morphology and balance following spinal fusion, particularly in relation to postoperative sacroiliac joint pain. The lab also explores innovative endovascular strategies, including flow diversion for complex aneurysms, and rare spinal tumors such as cystic schwannomas. The patients with SIJ pain showed retroversed pelvis and vertical sacrum while the patients without SIJ pain have similar morphologic features with asymptomatic populations in the literature.

When treating intracranial vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms with brain stem compression, parent artery occlusion and flow diversion should be considered to reduce aneurysm size and improve the mRS score.
Flow diversion is effective for very large and giant aneurysms, but the outcomes require further improvement. The results of this study show that an incorporated vessel and excessive balloon angioplasty might compromise flow diversion. This finding can help improve the outcomes of flow diversion.
To present a rare case of a cystic giant schwannoma of the sacrum mimicking aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC). 연구 배경: 자살은 전 세계적으로 10대 사망원인 중에 하나이다. 최근 우리나라의 자살률은 크게 증가하고 있고, 특히 청소년의 자살률이 상대적으로 높게 나타나고 있다. 입시, 진로 등 자살에 대한 위험요인이 많은 고등학생들을 대상으로 청소년의 자살에 대한 인식과 자살충동 요인을 조사하여 자살 방지에 적합한 대책을 수립하는 데 도움을 주고자 한다. 방법: 2005년 6월 1일부터 2005년 7월 31일까지 서울과 지방의 8개 고등학교에 재학하고 있는 770명의 학생 중 불충분한 응답을 한 51명(6.6%)을 제외한 719명(93.3%)을 최종 연구대상으로 하였고, 설문조사의 결과는 SPSS 12.0 K for Windows를 사용하여 각 문항별로 빈도를 측정하였고 자살요인에 대한 통계처리의 검증은 χ2 검정과 Fisher의 직접 확률법, 로지스틱 회귀분석을 사용하여 변수간의 차이 및 상관관계가 있는지를 검증하였다. 결과: 연구 대상자는 남자 362명(50.3%), 여자 357명(49
