About the Lab
Professor Eun-Sang Lee's research lab focuses on translational and clinical oncology, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cancer therapy. The lab investigates pharmacogenomics, particularly NUDT15 variants and their impact on thiopurine toxicity, as well as strategies to optimize treatment in acute leukemia and lymphoma. Research also extends to radiation-induced injury, exploring radioprotective agents like auranofin to mitigate intestinal damage. Additionally, the lab examines infectious complications—especially cytomegalovirus in cord blood transplant recipients—and prognostic biomarkers such as serum neuron-specific enolase in relapsed hematologic malignancies.

NUDT15 variants cause hematopoietic toxicity with low 6-TGN levels. NUDT15 genotyping should be conducted before administering thiopurine, and dose adjustments require caution regardless of 6-TGN levels.
