About the Lab

Professor Eunhee Kim's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy and clinical outcomes in pediatric and adult patients. The lab investigates medical imaging techniques—particularly ultrasound and diffusion-weighted MRI—for early detection of metastatic disease and neurological abnormalities. It also explores regenerative medicine using adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) as a promising, ethically favorable alternative to embryonic or induced pluripotent stem cells. Additionally, the lab examines perioperative risk factors for acute kidney injury in pediatric cardiac surgery patients, aiming to enhance postoperative care and outcomes.

SJR Q1Neurology

<b>Objective: </b> Migraine carries an increased risk for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases that cannot be explained by traditional cardiovascular risk factors. The circulating endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) number is a surrogate biologic marker of vascular function, and diminished EPC counts are associated with higher cardiovascular risk. We investigated whether abnormalities in EPC levels and functions are present in migraine patients. <b>Methods: </b> Consecutive headache patient

In order to study the $\ensuremath{\Sigma}$-nucleus optical potential, we measured inclusive $({\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}},{K}^{+})$ spectra on medium-to-heavy nuclear targets $\mathrm{C}{\mathrm{H}}_{2}$, Si, Ni, In, and Bi. The $\mathrm{C}{\mathrm{H}}_{2}$ target was used to calibrate the excitation energy scale by using the elementary process $p+{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}+{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, where the C spectrum was also ext

We performed a coincidence measurement of two nucleons emitted from the nonmesonic weak decay of $_{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}^{5}\mathrm{He}$ formed via the $^{6}\mathrm{Li}({\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+},{K}^{+})$ reaction. The energies of the two nucleons and the pair number distributions in the opening angle between them were measured. In both $np$ and $nn$ pairs, we observed a clean back-to-back correlation coming from the two-body weak reactions of $\ensuremath{\Lambda}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}np$ and

Diagnostic Benefit of Thyroglobulin Measurement in Fine-Needle Aspiration for Diagnosing Metastatic Cervical Lymph Nodes from Papillary Thyroid Cancer: Correlations with US Features
전세정, 김은희, 박정선, 백정환, 김윤숙, 박도준, 나동규, 조보연, 손규리

Objective: Our goals were to determine the added value of fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB)-thyroglobulin (Tg) measurements over FNAB-cytology alone for diagnosing metastatic nodes, and to determine whether the ultrasound features of lymph nodes can be used to identify lymph nodes that may benefit from FNAB-Tg measurement in patients with papillary thyroid cancer. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 76 surgically proven cervical lymph nodes. Twenty-nine patients were awaiting

Sin‐Aye Park, E. H. Kim, Hye‐Kyung Na, Young‐Joon Surh
SJR Q1Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences

Ginsenosides, ingredients of ginseng, have a wide array of pharmacologic effects. Especially, ginsenosides Rk1, Rg3, and Rg5 derived from heat-processed ginseng have been shown to possess substantial anti-tumor-promoting effects. KG-135 is a formulated complex that contains several antitumorigenic ginsenosides, such as Rk1, Rg3, Rg5, Rk2, Rk3, Rs3, Rs4, Rs5, Rs6, Rs7, etc. The present article was aimed at evaluating the chemopreventive as well as anti-inflammatory effects of KG-135 in the human

SJR Q2Free Radical Research

Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is a stress-responsive enzyme that has antioxidant and cytoprotective functions. However, HO-1 has oncogenic functions in cancerous or transformed cells. In the present work, we investigated the effects of HO-1 on the expression of p53 induced by 15-deoxy-Δ(12,14)-prostaglandin J2 (15d-PGJ2) in human breast cancer (MCF-7) cells. Treatment of MCF-7 cells with 15d-PGJ2 led to time-dependent increases in the expression of p53 as well as HO-1. Upregulation of p53 expression b

RC Flat Plate under Combined In-Plane and Out-of-Plane Loads
Hansol Park, E. H. Kim
SJR Q1Journal of Structural Engineering

A numerical study using nonlinear finite-element analysis is performed to investigate the behavior of reinforced-concrete flat plates subject to combined in-plane compressive and out-of-plane floor loads. For the nonlinear finite-element analysis, a computer program addressing material and geometric nonlinearities is developed. The flat plates to be studied are designed according to the direct design method. Through studies on the effects of different load combinations and loading sequence, the

An electron microbeam cell-irradiation system at KIRAMS: performance and preliminary experiments
E. H. Kim, Gwang‐Min Sun, Miran Jang
SJR Q3Radiation Protection Dosimetry

An electron microbeam cell-irradiation (EMCI) system is now ready for routine operation in Korea. The system components include an electron gun operating at 1-100 keV, a beam transport chamber delivering a micron-sized beam, a cell image acquisition and positioning part and an automatic system control section. The present choice of source beam energy is 30 keV so that the radiation impact is conveyed to the targeted cells with a minimum spatial dispersion. The beam is available at 5 microm in di
