About the Lab
Professor Gheeyoung Choe's research lab focuses on molecular oncology and translational pathology, with a primary emphasis on understanding the signaling pathways driving aggressive cancers such as glioblastoma, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer. The lab investigates key oncogenic drivers like the PI3K pathway, HER2, EGFR variants, and c-MET, integrating molecular diagnostics with clinical outcomes to identify predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Their work combines immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and advanced bioinformatics to dissect tumor heterogeneity and progression mechanisms in vivo. The lab also explores infectious etiologies in gastrointestinal diseases, including parasitic infections and H. pylori-related gastric atrophy and metaplasia.

We report a case of massive hepatic infection by Capillaria hepatica in a 14-month-old girl who presented with the symptom triad of persistent fever, hepatomegaly, and leukocytosis with eosinophilia.
