About the Lab
Professor Gwankyu Park's research lab specializes in orthopedic biomechanics and clinical outcomes following total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with a strong focus on functional recovery, implant positioning, and patient-reported outcomes in Asian populations. The lab investigates the impact of anatomical factors—such as femoral bowing and knee flexion—on surgical outcomes, while also exploring the role of systemic conditions like metabolic syndrome in knee osteoarthritis. Additionally, the lab examines natural biomolecules, such as xanthorrhizol, for their anti-inflammatory and anti-tumorigenic potential in skin disease models. BACKGROUND/AIMS: We investigated the relationship between bone mineral density (BMD) of the femur neck or lumbar spine and metabolic syndrome or its parameters in postmenopausal Korean women. This study found that the femoral component sagittal position is an important factor in knee joint mechanics. In this study, the flexion of femoral component showed a stable reconstruction of the knee extensors' mechanism. This study compared the pain score, cosmetic outcome and wound complication rate between zip-type skin-closing device and conventional staple device.
