About the Lab

Professor Ha-Na Kim's research lab specializes in cognitive and behavioral analysis in aging populations, with a focus on narrative discourse and working memory using information unit (IU) analysis. The lab also conducts advanced research in cybersecurity within online gaming environments, particularly developing server-side detection systems for account theft through action sequence and transaction pattern analysis. These dual research directions reflect a strong emphasis on both clinical assessment tools for cognitive health and real-world applications in digital security. The lab integrates linguistic analysis, psychological assessment, and data-driven modeling to address challenges in aging and cybercrime.

Age-related Changes in Story Retelling Procedures and their Relation to Working Memory Capacity
Hana Kim, Jae Eun Sung
Special Education Research

Crime scene re-investigation: a postmortem analysis of game account stealers' behaviors
Hana Kim, Seong-Il Yang, Huy Kang Kim

As item trading becomes more popular, users can change their game items or money into real money more easily. At the same time, hackers turn their eyes on stealing other users game items or money because it is much easier to earn money than traditional gold-farming by running game bots. Game companies provide various security measures to block accounttheft attempts, but many security measures on the user-side are disregarded by users because of lack of usability. In this study, we propose a serv

A study on the identity theft detection model in MMORPGs
Hana Kim, Byung Il Kwak, Huy Kang Kim
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information Security and Cryptology

본 연구에서는 MMORPG(Massive Multi-user Online Role Playing Game)내에서의 계정도용자들의 행위분석을 통한 계정도용 탐지모델을 제안한다.

Complexity-Aware Layer-Wise Mixed-Precision Schemes With SQNR-Based Fast Analysis
Hana Kim, Hyun Eun, Jung Hwan Choi, Ji-Hoon Kim
SJR Q1IEEE AccessOA

Recently, deep neural network (DNN) acceleration has been critical for hardware systems from mobile/edge devices to high-performance data centers. Especially, for on-device AI, there have been many studies on hardware numerical precision reduction considering the limited hardware resources of mobile/edge devices. Although layer-wise mixed-precision leads to computational complexity reduction, it is not straightforward to find a well-balanced layer-wise precision scheme since it takes a long time

Efficient joint source–channel decoding of multi-state Markov sequences
Hana Kim, Dongsoo Har, Zhi‐Hong Mao, Mingui Sun, Heung-No Lee
SJR Q2IET Communications

In this study, joint source–channel decoding for non-binary source samples is conducted. The non-binary source samples can be modelled as the output of a multi-state Markov chain (MC). As the source samples are directly transmitted after channel coding without source compression, the transmitted signals can be highly correlated. At the receiver, the multi-state MC module can be designed to exploit the statistical correlation of source samples to improve the error correcting performance. However,

A speech controlled animation system is both a useful application program as well as a laboratory in which to investigate context aware applications as well as controlling errors. The user need not have prior knowledge or experience in animation and is yet able to create interesting and meaningful animation naturally and fluently. The system can be used in a number of applications ranging from PowerPoint presentations to simulations to children’s storytelling tools.

Recently, AI acceleration is critical for hardware systems from mobile/edge devices to high-performance data servers. For on-device AI, there have been many studies on hardware numerical precision reduction for low hardware complexity considering limited hardware resources of mobile/edge devices [1–2]. However, if taken too far, aggressive quantization with low precision can degrade model accuracy which is the fundamental measure of deep learning quality. With the layer-wise mixed-precision netw
