About the Lab
Professor Hee Kyung Lee's research lab focuses on translational neuroscience and translational medicine, with a primary emphasis on understanding the neural and immunological mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurological disorders. The lab investigates neurodevelopmental models of schizophrenia, particularly through the lens of neural synchrony and excitation-inhibition imbalance, while also exploring the role of adult hippocampal neurogenesis and genetic risk factors such as DISC1. In parallel, the lab examines immune modulation in cancer, particularly the regulatory functions of Treg cells and the therapeutic potential of natural compounds like methyl gallate. Additionally, the lab contributes to clinical research in emergency care, including ultrasound-guided anesthesia and outcomes in cardiac arrest patients.
