About the Lab
Professor Hijung Kim's research lab focuses on translational cancer biology, with a strong emphasis on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying breast and cervical cancers. The lab investigates non-coding RNAs such as HOTAIR, the role of viral proteins like HIV-1 Tat in neurocognitive decline, and the impact of metabolic and hormonal factors—including metformin use and vitamin D status—on cancer prognosis and treatment outcomes. A central theme is the integration of molecular markers with clinical subtypes to improve risk stratification and personalized therapy in breast cancer.
