About the Lab
Professor Hwanwoo Lee's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying bone metabolism and osteoblast differentiation, with a particular emphasis on epigenetic regulation, signaling pathways, and the therapeutic potential of natural compounds. The lab investigates how histone modifications, adipokines like adiponectin, and phytochemicals such as berberine and celastrol influence osteogenic and adipogenic lineage decisions in mesenchymal stem cells. Additionally, the lab explores the anticancer effects of natural products, especially in gastric cancer, highlighting autophagy and apoptosis induction. These studies aim to identify novel therapeutic targets for osteoporosis and cancer.
