About the Lab

Professor Hye-Jin Lee's research lab focuses on biomedical and biotechnological applications of microfluidic systems and synthetic biology, with an emphasis on developing advanced diagnostic platforms for genetic and metabolic disorders. The lab investigates the detection of nucleic acids using surface plasmon resonance imaging and designs microbial cell factories for the sustainable production of bioactive flavonoids. Additionally, the lab explores environmental and endocrine disruptors' impact on metabolic health, particularly insulin resistance and obesity in reproductive-aged women. These interdisciplinary efforts integrate nanofabrication, metabolic engineering, and clinical epidemiology to address public health challenges.

Women with PCOS and normal glucose tolerance showed higher IR than controls matched for age, BMI, and β-cell function. β-cell function was increased in women with PCOS when compared to the matched controls, but not when the lean subjects were compared to the matched controls separately. 서울시 공립 초∙중학교 교육비의 공평성 분석

이 연구는 서울시 공립 초등학교와 중학교의 학교회계 결산자료를 기초로 단위 학교재정의 공평성을 측정하고 학부모와 학교가 소재한 자치구의 재정능력이 학생 1인당 교육비와 어떠한 상관관계에 있는지를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 1) 학생 1인당 교육비 측면에서 볼 때 서울특별시 초등학교의 학생 1인당 평균 교육비 수준이 중학교의 학생 1인당 평균 교육비 수준보다 지역간 격차가 더 심한 것으로 나타났으며, 2) 단위학교 세입·세출 총액만을 기준으로 수평적 공평성을 측정했을 때 학생당 교육비는 지역 간에 공평하게 배분되고 있었다. 3) 그러나 세입․세출의 각 항목별로는 지역 간에 차이가 있었는데, 세입 항목 중에서는 목적사업비, 자체수입, 학교발전기금, 보조금 및 지원금 항목에서 차이가 나타났다. 특히 중학교의 수익자부담경비 중 현장학습비의 차이가 눈에 띄게 나타났다. 4) 지역 간 차이에 비해 동일 지역 내 단위학교 간 차이가 더 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 5) 학교발전기금과 학생 1인당 교육비와
