About the Lab
Professor Hyun Wook Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, particularly the role of uric acid and vitamin D in systemic inflammation, vascular stiffness, and organ function. The lab investigates pathophysiological mechanisms in conditions such as hyperuricemia, acute pancreatitis, and kidney transplantation, integrating clinical data with experimental models. A key direction involves exploring the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cells in inflammatory diseases and evaluating clinical interventions like dialysis management and respiratory protection in healthcare settings.
