Professor Hyung Woo Jang's research lab specializes in biomedical engineering and clinical translational research, focusing on cardiovascular interventions, anticoagulation management, and tissue engineering for cardiac prostheses. The first aim of this study was to develop a prothrombin time international normalized ratio (PT INR) prediction model. The second aim was to develop a warfarin maintenance dose decision support system as a precise warfarin dosing platform. Data of 19,719 inpatients from three institutions was analyzed. The thoracic aorta dilated with aging and was larger in subjects with a larger body size. Sex differences in the gross aortic diameter might be related to differences in body size. The growth of the thoracic aorta was faster in younger subjects with a smaller indexed diameter.
Patients with untreated trivial or mild functional TR accompanied by mitral valve disease can develop significant TR during follow-up. TV ring annuloplasty can be performed without complications and can be beneficial for patients with trivial or mild functional TR who are undergoing MVR.
Compared with TVr, TVR had acceptable early and late outcomes in patients with severe TR. TVR can be considered as a valid option with acceptable clinical outcomes in patients who are not suitable candidates for TVr.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of treatment with amino compounds and solvents in vivo on calcifications of glutaraldehyde (GA)-fixed pericardium. Groups of bovine pericardium samples were fixed with 0.5% GA. We sought to evaluate the outcomes of postoperative three-month dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) following off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) with exclusively arterial grafts. Between 2013–2016, dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with either aspirin + clopidogrel (ASA + CPD group, n = 100) or aspirin + ticagrelor (ASA + TCG group, n = 169) was prescribed postoperatively in 269 NSTE-ACS patients after total arterial OPCAB.

Surgical AVR with AAR in AS patients with calcified ascending aortas led to acceptable early and late outcomes. Although the applications for TAVI are growing, a surgical approach may be an alternative option for relatively younger patients with severely calcified aorta.
