About the Lab
Professor Hyunkyu Cho's research lab focuses on understanding the immunological and molecular mechanisms underlying chronic inflammatory and fibrotic lung diseases, including nontuberculous mycobacterial infections, COPD, and interstitial lung diseases such as nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP). The lab employs integrated multi-omics approaches—combining transcriptomics, microRNA profiling, and advanced imaging techniques like cardiovascular magnetic resonance—to identify key biomarkers and prognostic factors. A central theme is translating molecular insights into clinical applications for improved diagnosis, risk stratification, and personalized management of respiratory diseases.
