About the Lab

Professor Jae-hong Ryu's research lab specializes in epidemiological and clinical studies focusing on the interplay between metabolic disorders and chronic diseases. The lab investigates the prospective associations between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), serum uric acid levels, metabolic syndrome, and the development of diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease in Korean male populations. Using large-scale prospective cohort studies, the lab aims to identify early metabolic risk markers and understand the bidirectional relationships between liver fat accumulation, systemic metabolism, and organ-specific diseases. Their work contributes to preventive medicine by highlighting modifiable risk factors in metabolic health.
