Professor Jae Hwan Kim's research lab specializes in biomedical and biotechnological applications, focusing on immune modulation through functional foods, molecular mechanisms of developmental signaling pathways such as Hedgehog in gastrointestinal morphogenesis, and enzymatic processing of plant-based bioresources for enhanced bioactive compound recovery. The lab also investigates environmental noise annoyance and radiation therapy fractionation in cutaneous malignancies, integrating biological, biochemical, and translational research approaches to address health and disease mechanisms.

In order to identify strains that can increase aglycone contents, we performed a screening using bacteria isolated from the feces of infants focusing on acid tolerance and β-glucosidase activity. The in-vitro activity of 12 antibacterial agents against 98 clinical isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae, including 54 penicillin-resistant strains, was determined by a standardized broth microdilution method.
