About the Lab
Professor Jaejeong Shin's research lab specializes in satellite constellation design for Earth observation, with a focus on optimizing coverage and revisit time for regional surveillance missions. The lab also conducts advanced research in signal processing, particularly in lossless bounded-real filter design and allpass-based filter extraction techniques. Additionally, the lab explores system-level performance optimization in emerging computing architectures, including Processing-in-Memory (PIM) systems integrated with GPUs, and investigates the strategic impact of intellectual property on innovation and growth in the content industry. These diverse research directions reflect a strong emphasis on both theoretical innovation and practical applications in aerospace, signal processing, and high-performance computing.

12In this study, we describe an analytical process for designing a low Earth orbit constellation for discontinuous regional coverage, to be used for a surveillance and reconnaissance space mission. The objective of this study was to configure a satellite constellation that targeted multiple areas near the Korean Peninsula. The constellation design forms part of a discontinuous regional coverage problem with a minimum revisit time. We first introduced an optimal inclination search algorithm to calc
In this paper, we present two improved lossless bounded-real (LBR) two-pair extraction methods using an allpass input function, which significantly reduce roundoff errors during the extraction process and reduce the amount of computation nearly to a half. Both methods are based on the induced allpass transfer function from the given BR function, which is obtained by replacing the value of the terminating multiplier with 1 or -1. The first method is an LBR two-pair extraction based directly on th
A Stateful Path Computation Element (PCE) maintains information on the current network state, including: computed Label Switched Path (LSPs), reserved resources within the network, and pending path computation requests. This information may then be considered when computing new traffic engineered LSPs, and for associated and dependent LSPs, received from Path Computation Clients (PCCs). The Hierarchical Path Computation Element (H-PCE) architecture, provides an architecture to allow the optimum
