About the Lab

Professor Jeong Eun Shin's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and neural repair, focusing on innovative strategies to treat central nervous system injuries such as hypoxic-ischemic brain injury and spinal cord injury. The lab investigates the therapeutic potential of combining biomaterial scaffolds with human neural progenitor cells to enhance neural regeneration, survival, and functional recovery. A key focus is optimizing cell transplantation therapies through biological modulation—such as TNF-α pretreatment—to improve cell survival in hostile injury microenvironments. The lab also explores long-term respiratory outcomes in neonates, particularly the impact of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and surfactant therapy on childhood respiratory morbidity.

We aimed to analyze the association of BPD on childhood lower respiratory illness (LRI) and asthma among patients diagnosed with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS).
