About the Lab
Professor Jeong Ho Han's research lab specializes in translational oncology and molecular cancer biology, focusing on the integrative analysis of genomic and radiological features in cancer to improve diagnosis and treatment. The lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis using high-throughput sequencing technologies, particularly in lung adenocarcinoma among never-smoking female patients, and explores novel immunotherapeutic strategies such as IL-12 gene therapy for advanced cancers. Additionally, the lab contributes to medical imaging research, especially in the radiological characterization of thymic epithelial tumors and mechanical ventilation-induced lung injury. The work bridges genomics, immunotherapy, and clinical imaging to advance precision oncology.

15Although CT is of limited value in differentiating histologic subtypes according to the WHO classification, CT findings may serve as predictors of postoperative recurrence or metastasis for the thymic epithelial tumors.
A phase I dose-escalation clinical trial of peritumoral injections of interleukin 12 (IL-12)-transduced autologous fibroblasts was performed in patients with disseminated cancer for whom effective treatment does not exist. The goals of this study were to assess the safety and toxicities as well as the efficacy, and ancillarily the immunomodulatory effects, of peritumoral IL-12 gene transfer. Primary dermal fibroblasts cultured from the patients were transduced with retroviral vector carrying hum
BACKGROUND: Deep sequencing techniques provide a remarkable opportunity for comprehensive understanding of tumorigenesis at the molecular level. As omics studies become popular, integrative approaches need to be developed to move from a simple cataloguing of mutations and changes in gene expression to dissecting the molecular nature of carcinogenesis at the systemic level and understanding the complex networks that lead to cancer development. RESULTS: Here, we describe a high-throughput, multi-d
Repeated derecruitments can accentuate lung injury during mechanical ventilation.
Thymic epithelial tumor is a distinctive pathologic entity exhibiting variable histologic features and heterogeneous oncologic behavior. Among the various classification systems, that of the World Health Organization has been adopted because of good correlation between histologic appearance and oncologic behavior. Radiologically, a smooth contour and round shape are most suggestive of a type-A tumor, whereas an irregular contour most strongly suggests type C. Pleural seeding is rare in type-A an
Chiral emission exhibiting a large degree of circular polarization (DCP) is important in diverse applications ranging from displays and optical storage to optical communication, bioimaging, and medical diagnostics. Although chiral luminescent materials can generate chiral emissions directly, they frequently suffer from either low DCP or low quantum efficiencies. Achieving high DCP and quantum efficiencies simultaneously remains extremely challenging. This review introduces an alternative approac
Abstract Critical coupling can induce maximized field enhancement in resonant optical modes. Therefore, it is important for various photonic technologies. Here, it is shown that directional light sources with highly enhanced emission intensities can be realized via critical coupling. A clear experimental demonstration of maximized emission enhancement is presented in quantum dot (QD)‐coated Brillouin zone folding (BZF) metasurfaces. BZF dielectric metasurfaces support guided‐mode resonances, whe
Diagnostic utility of E-cadherin (E-CD) and cytokeratin (CK) subtype profiling in effusion cytology was investigated, employing immunocytochemistry on cellblock sections available from 211 metastatic carcinomas (MC), 6 mesotheliomas and 73 reac-tive mesothelial hyperplasias (MH). E-CD and monoclonal carcinoembryonic anti-gen (mCEA) stained 85% (120/141) and 65% (138/211) of MC, respectively. E-CD staining of MC was frequently heterogeneous (76/120) and absent in all anaplastic carcinomas (0/2).
Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella thyphimurium</itali
Catamenial hemoptysis is a rare condition caused by thoracic endometriosis that presents as tracheobronchial or pulmonary endometriosis. While hormonal treatment may cause virilization and sterility, due to the antiestrogenic effect, its surgical removal via thoracotomy is a particularly invasive procedure and is not recommended as the first choice treatment in young woman. Successful surgical removal by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) has recently been reported, and may be indicated
