About the Lab
Professor Jeong-Hyun Park's research lab focuses on regenerative medicine and molecular oncology, with a strong emphasis on stem cell biology, epigenetic regulation, and tissue engineering. The lab investigates the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned media and reprogramming factors in promoting tissue regeneration, particularly in hair follicle regeneration and mandibular/tmjoint reconstruction. Additionally, the lab explores epigenetic modulators, such as synthetic HDAC inhibitors, for their antitumor effects and mechanisms in cancer cells. The integration of biomaterials, including 3D-printed titanium implants, further supports the lab’s mission in developing innovative solutions for craniofacial and musculoskeletal reconstruction.

15We have developed previously a class of synthetic hybrid histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors, which were built from hydroxamic acid of trichostatin A and pyridyl ring of MS-275. In this study we evaluated the antitumor effects of these novel hybrid synthetic HDAC inhibitors, SK-7041 and SK-7068, on human cancer cells. Both SK-7041 and SK-7068 effectively inhibited cellular HDAC activity at nanomolar concentrations and induced the time-dependent hyperacetylation of histones H3 and H4. These HDA
Heart failure is a frequent unfavorable outcome of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. Recent increase in dietary fructose consumption mirrors the rise in prevalence of cardiovascular diseases such as cardiac hypertrophy leading to concerns raised by public health experts. Mitochondria, comprising 30% of cardiomyocyte volume, play a central role in modulating redox-dependent cellular processes such as metabolism and apoptosis. Furthermore, mitochondrial dysfunction is a key cause of pathogenesis o
BACKGROUND: This clinical case presented a novel method of segmental mandible reconstruction using 3D-printed titanium implant with pre-mounted dental implants that was planned to rehabilitate occlusion. CASE PRESENTATION: A 53-year-old male who suffered osteoradionecrosis due to the radiation after squamous cell carcinoma resection. The 3D-printed titanium implant with pre-mounted dental implant fixtures was simulated and fabricated with selective laser melting method. The implant was successfu
BACKGROUND: Mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned medium (MSC-CM) has emerged as a promising cell-free tool for restoring degenerative diseases and treating traumatic injuries. The present study describes the effect of selenium as a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger and its additive effect with basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on in vitro expansion of amniotic fluid (AF)-MSCs and the paracrine actions of AF-MSC-CM as well as the associated cellular and molecular mechanisms. METHOD
Alopecia, one of the most common chronic diseases, can seriously affect a patient's psychosocial life. Dermal papilla (DP) cells serve as essential signaling centers in the regulation of hair growth and regeneration and are associated with crosstalk between autocrine/paracrine factors and the surrounding environment. We previously demonstrated that amniotic fluid-derived mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium (AF-MSC-CM) accelerates hair regeneration and growth. The present study describes the
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of four patients receiving stock Biomet TMJ prosthesis for reconstruction of the TMJs. METHODS: TMJ reconstruction with stock Biomet TMJ prosthesis was performed in four patients who had joint damages by trauma, tumor, resorption, and ankylosis, which represent the indications of alloplastic prosthesis. RESULTS: Loss of condyle from trauma and resorption of joint are good indications for prosthesis, but the patients should be info
