About the Lab
Professor Jeong-wan Choi's research lab specializes in gastrointestinal and liver diseases, with a strong focus on Helicobacter pylori infection, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and the interplay between chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and metabolic syndrome in relation to hepatocellular carcinoma and extrahepatic malignancies. The lab investigates novel treatment strategies for H. pylori, evaluates clinical scoring systems for upper GI bleeding, and explores the role of microbial and biochemical factors in bile duct stone recurrence. Their work integrates clinical gastroenterology with epidemiological and microbiological approaches to improve patient outcomes in digestive diseases.
