About the Lab
Professor Jeong-Mok Kim's research lab specializes in antimicrobial agents and food safety, focusing on the antibacterial properties of essential oil components such as carvacrol, citral, and geraniol against foodborne pathogens. ABSTRACT Carvacrol, citral and geraniol showed potent antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhimurium and its rifampicin‐resistant (Rif R ) strain as determined in txyptic soy broth and by zone of inhibition on agar‐based medium. Carvacrol had the most potent bactericidal activity, with minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations (MIC and MBC) of 250 μg/mL for both tester strains. Coupling of spin and heat currents enables the spin Nernst effect, the thermal generation of spin currents in nonmagnets that have strong spin-orbit interaction.
