About the Lab
Professor Ji-Seon Nam's research lab focuses on the pathophysiological mechanisms linking metabolic disorders—particularly type 2 diabetes and its complications—with cardiovascular and renal diseases. The lab investigates novel biomarkers such as the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), hemorheologic parameters, and myokines to understand early disease progression and metabolic dysfunction. Key research directions include the role of immune cells like natural killer (NK) cells in glucose metabolism, arterial stiffness, and microvascular complications in diabetes, with an emphasis on translational biomarkers and therapeutic interventions such as Korean Red Ginseng.
