About the Lab

Professor Ji-Yeon Baek's research lab focuses on molecular and population genetics of insect pests, particularly in the context of pest management and biodiversity conservation. The lab investigates mitochondrial and nuclear genome sequences to understand genetic diversity, population structure, and evolutionary patterns in economically and ecologically significant insects, such as the pear psylla and endangered butterflies. Additionally, the lab contributes to viral epidemiology, particularly in studying respiratory viruses like RSV and influenza in human populations. The integration of molecular tools with ecological and clinical data enables a comprehensive understanding of pest and pathogen dynamics.

The clinical features of KFD in children and adults were similar; however, the preferred imaging study and frequency of antibiotic use differed significantly between the two groups. Furthermore, in adults, ANA positivity was associated with KFD recurrence. Thus, patients with KFD who present with ANA positivity at diagnosis will benefit from a regular follow-up for monitoring KFD recurrence.
