About the Lab

Professor Ji-Yeon Seong's research lab focuses on molecular oncology and antimicrobial resistance, with a strong emphasis on the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression and multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. The lab investigates key regulators in cancer, such as SIRT1, DBC1, and INPP4B, in relation to tumor development and clinical outcomes, particularly in breast and colorectal cancers. Concurrently, the lab explores the genetic basis of antimicrobial resistance in pathogenic bacteria like *Acinetobacter baumannii*, especially concerning carbapenem resistance, biofilm formation, and the role of beta-lactamase genes. These studies aim to identify novel therapeutic targets and improve clinical management of aggressive cancers and difficult-to-treat bacterial infections.

Several differences in carbapenem, aminoglycoside, and fluoroquinolone resistance gene content were detected among Acb complex isolates.
