이 내러티브 탐구의 목적은 거듭되는 국가교육과정 개정 담론 속에서 초등학교 통합교과 교육과정이 실행되는 과정에서 변화하는 교사 행위 주체(teacher agency)1)의역할은 무엇인지를 탐색하고자 한다. Homi Bhabha의 제3의 공간(the third space) 이론에 비추어 교사 행위 주체의 역할은 어떠한 의미를 지니는지 국가교육과정 맥락과교사의 교육과정 실천을 살펴봄으로써 ‘틈새(in-between space)’에 위치해 있는 교사행위 주체의 역할을 이해하고자 한다. 이 연구는 질적 연구로서 서울과 경기도의 공립 초등학교의 연구 참여자 교사들의 내러티브를 중심으로 진행되었다. 이 연구는 교사들이 국가교육과정에 의한 통합교과를 실행하는 과정에서 교사 행위 주체로서 국가교육과정 맥락과 학교 문화, 교사 문화 맥락 사이에서 어떠한 역할을 하게 되는지그들의 내러티브를 통해 탐색함으로써 변화하는 국가교육과정의 맥락에서 교사들의위치를 이해하는데 그 목적이 있다.
